more than 的三個用法

more than   放在數(shù)詞之前,，意為 “超過；不止；以上”,，用于此意義時可與over互換

使用。

例句：

Altogether more than 70 percent of the surface of our planet is covered by water.

整體說來,，我們這個星球表面有70%以上都為水所覆蓋,。

More than two hundred students were present at the evening party.

二百多名學(xué)生出席了晚會。

more than + 名詞   more than 置于名詞之前,，表示 “不只是”,、“遠(yuǎn)不止”、“不僅僅”

的意思,。

例句：

Hibernation is more than sleep.

冬眠不僅僅是睡眠,。

Communicating is more than speaking and listening.

交流不僅僅是說和聽。

They are more than cooks; they are also artists.

他們不只是廚師,，更是藝術(shù)家,。

Peace is more than the absence of war.

more than  置于形容詞,、動詞,、分詞或副詞之后表示“非常”,，“十分”,、“豈止”、

“遠(yuǎn)不止”等意思,，強調(diào)意味較強,。翻譯時要注意語氣的表達(dá)。

●     置于形容詞前

She is more than angry; she is furious.

If you tell your father what you have done, he will be more than a little angry.
