I was looking in my bag for my letters when I heard a shout. Then I saw them run out of the bank. Detective: And what did you do when you saw them? Mrs Zhang: I just stopped. I didn’t try to do anything, because one of them was carrying a gun. They ran past me and jumped into a car that was waiting near the bus-stop. People were shouting and screaming. The manager rushed out of the bank and ran towards the car, but it was too late. He couldn’t stop them. 1. 一般過去時(shí)和過去進(jìn)行時(shí)的意義不一樣。過去進(jìn)行時(shí)表示過去正在進(jìn)行的動作或狀態(tài), 一般過去時(shí)表示一個(gè)完成了的動作,。 People were shouting and screaming. (= all the way, completely) Kate was watching TV when we arrived. Kate watched TV a lot when she was last year. 2. You can say that something happened (past simple) in the middle of something else (past continuous) Matt phoned while we were havingdinner. It was raining when I got up. I saw you in the park yesterday. You were sitting on the grass and reading a book. I hurt my back while l was working in the garden. But we use the past simple to say that one thing happened after another: I was walking along the road when I saw Dan. So I stopped, and we talked for a while.
