Hiya! Nice to see you again! Welcome to my channel. This is Alva.
Are you a movie fan? What type of movie do you like?
I bet you a tenner that you must at least watch one Disney movie throughout your life.
If you have not, today I will show you a discussion about the movie “Lion King”. Let’s see if you’re interested in it~
Before listening, here is a tip for comprehension.
There are many nicknames for an English name, especially for a long one.
Taking the name Isabella as an example, it has Bella, Bell, Lisa, Lizzy and so on as its nicknames.
One of the speakers in today’s dialogue is called Richard, and one of his nicknames is Dick.
Dick.
Meanwhile, the other speaker, David, could be also called Dave.
Dave.
Okay, no more talking, let’s dive into today’s learning!
A: Welcome back movie lovers to another “Premier Movie Review”. My name is Richard Clarke and I am joined today by the very erudite David Watson. David Watson。B: Thank you Dick. Today we are going to talk about the movie “Lion King”. Tell me, what is your impression of this film? 告訴我,你對這部電影的印象是什么,?A: Well, I think this film is simply a fable, depicting man's eternal greed for power, and in my opinion, it's a very fine film. A: Even despite the accusations of plagiarism of traditional folk tales from other countries. The musical score was amazing, the animation was very well done, and the story was simply enchanting. B: I think otherwise. Even though the animation was technically strong, and as you say, the score and songs performed by Elton John were great, the film lacks a certain originality; it lacked heart. B: And I would dare to say, it was too predictable.A: Predictable! How! Come on Dave, It's a G-rated movie! It's for the kids! It's not a thriller! B: Well, that's just it. It did have some very dramatic and intense scenes. For example, when Mufasa dies, or the dark, grim portrayal of Scar. B: Even so, the film is linear. Mufasa dies, Simba runs away thinking it's his fault. Falls in love and returns to retake what is rightfully his. It's just too cliché. A: How can it be cliché? It's a fable! It's telling a time-honoured story! 是在講述一個由來已久的故事,!A: The movie makes a point of how the hunger for power leads to corruption, and teaches children the value of respect, life and love. B: You have always been so soft, Dick!A: Open your heart, Dave. Don't shut us out.B: Anyway... That's all for today folks! Join us next time as we talk about; How to lose a guy in 10 days. I'm sure you'll love that one Dick! Dick,,我敢保證,你一定會愛上它的,!How do feel after listening to this movie review?
Do you want to download Lion King as soon as possible or you just couldn’t care less about it?
But anyway, learning keeps going on. Let’s look at the pronunciation first.
(2)[n] 通常伴隨著字母 n 或者 ne, in, on 等拼寫出現(xiàn)。 By the way, don’t forget [n] is a nasal sound! Why not get a mirror and practice! Let’s see who forget to rise the tip of your tongue and press against the upper teeth! 和小伙伴們互相監(jiān)督,,看誰下次先忘記抬起舌尖~The purpose of pronouncing [l] and [n] correctly, to some extent, is to help us link words better. Portrayal ends with [l] and of starts with [?], so we link them.(Portrayal 以 [l] 音結(jié)尾,,of 以 [?] Let’s see the other example. It is now your turn to tell me how to do the liaison. Join us next time as we talk about. Now let’s crack the vocabulary.
1. erudite [?eruda?t] adj.
The definition of this word is having or showing great knowledge that is gained from academic study.
She wrote in an original and highly erudite style.
2. eternal [??t??n(?)l] adj.
They swore eternal loyalty to each other.
3. plagiarism [?ple?d??r?z?m] n.
Now he's in real trouble. He's accused of plagiarism.
4. linear [?l?ni?(r)] adj.
Usually, stories are told in a linear way, from start to finish.
5. corruption [k??r?p?(?)n] n.
The film is about a young police officer and his struggle to expose corruption in the force.
A lot of new words to digest, aren’t there! Come on and take a deep breath. We are now moving to the daily expressions.
1. It's just too cliché.
Cliché is borrowed from French, so it could sound a little different from other English words.
It is used when something has been used so often that is no longer interesting.
It’s just too cliché. Give me something interesting!
2. That's all for today folks!
So you know what you’re going to call your friends now~
Finally, let’s have a quick review.
