 在雅思考試中 food一直是頻率 炒雞高的話題 當(dāng)然吃也是偶們 生活的主旋律 說(shuō)起和吃有關(guān)的表達(dá) 小編第一個(gè)想到的 就是couch potato 靜靜地做一個(gè)“沙發(fā)土豆” 坐沙發(fā)上看看電視 吃吃junk food 是件多愜意的事情呀 口語(yǔ)中和吃有關(guān)的表達(dá) 不勝枚舉 下面幾個(gè) 你是不是都知道呢   go bananas 發(fā)瘋;發(fā)怒  to become extremely angry or excited e.g. She'll go bananas when you tell her the news. 你若告訴她這個(gè)消息,，她會(huì)氣瘋的。 關(guān)于go bananas的來(lái)源《牛津詞典》也說(shuō)不清這個(gè)表達(dá)何時(shí)有了發(fā)瘋的意思,。  有一種說(shuō)法，猩猩看香蕉時(shí)候,，極度興奮,，陷入癲狂，所以go bananas意思和go ape 意思相似,，表示發(fā)瘋,、情緒失控。 還有一種說(shuō)法,，香蕉原產(chǎn)東南亞,，而印尼有一種香蕉酒，容易醉,，醉了就耍酒瘋,。  curry favour （尤指對(duì)當(dāng)權(quán)者）討好，奉承,，拍馬屁  to praise someone, especially someone in authority, in a way that is not sincere, in order to get some advantage for yourself 【UK】curry favour 【US】curry favor e.g. He's always trying to curry favour with the boss. 他總是想方設(shè)法拍老板馬屁,。 光看這倆單詞的組成，大家可能猜不出是拍馬屁的意思,。 咖喱curry,，大家都知道來(lái)源于印度，但其實(shí)這個(gè)表達(dá)和咖喱并沒(méi)有半毛錢(qián)關(guān)系,。 “curry favour”來(lái)源于法語(yǔ)：“couraier fauvel”,。 Fauvel 是 14 世紀(jì)法國(guó)的一個(gè)野心勃勃的馬，通過(guò)賄賂高層,，F(xiàn)auvel成了宮廷紅人,。（大家可以看上圖感受一下咩哈哈） 在之后，上流社會(huì)的人紛紛阿諛?lè)畛?Fauvel ,，就是 conraier Fauvel,，conraier 在古法語(yǔ)中，意思是準(zhǔn)備,、整理,、給馬梳毛,。也不知道從何時(shí)開(kāi)始，到了英語(yǔ)當(dāng)中,，因?yàn)榘l(fā)音相近,，就變成了 curry favour。 as brown as a berry 形容皮膚曬得很黑  having tanned skin due to sun exposure. Primarily heard in UK, Australia. e.g. She was as brown as a berry when she came back from Spain. 她從西班牙度假回來(lái)的時(shí)候,，皮膚曬得很黑,。 berry漿果，和漿果一樣棕,，就是指皮膚曬得很黑,，和成熟的果子一樣，黑里透紅,。 幾百年前,，英國(guó)大詩(shī)人喬叟（Chaucer）在《坎特伯雷故事集》（Canterbury Tales）里就使用了這個(gè)表達(dá)，說(shuō)馬兒 as brown as a berry,。 as cool as a cucumber （尤指出奇地）鎮(zhèn)靜,，冷靜，泰然自若  very calm or very calmly, especially when this is surprising e.g. She walked in as cool as a cucumber, as if nothing had happened. 她泰然自若地走進(jìn)來(lái),，好像什么事也沒(méi)發(fā)生過(guò),。 這里的cool是沉著的，冷靜的意思,，而不是指冷,。在英語(yǔ)中最早的使用記錄可追溯到 1732 年： "I ... cool as a cucumber could see The rest of womankind." plum forget 忘得精光 completely forget e.g. I plum forgot your birthday. 我完全忘了你的生日,。 Plum 是 plumb 的變形,，plumb是個(gè)非正式用法， 意思是 completely,，plum forget 就是忘得精光的意思,。 big cheese 大人物 an important person in a company or an organization with a lot of influence e.g. He is a big cheese in the company. 他在公司很有影響力。 big cheese,，大奶酪,？不不不，是大人物的意思,。類(lèi)似表達(dá)還有 big fish, big gun, big shot, big wheel,。 cheese 的形容詞 cheesy，除了表示奶酪味的,，還有個(gè)意思,，蹩腳的、劣質(zhì)的,，比如cheesy adverts粗俗的廣告,。 但在 19 世紀(jì),，cheesy 意思卻完全相反，表示一流的,。 chew the fat 閑聊,，閑談
