| Yes or no, anyway I was realy back to the Nottingham University in my heart! For two days I lectured on D.H.Lawrence in UNNC, University of Nottingham Ningbo China in China's city of Ningbo. I also did some recording for the uni's podcast with a recitation of Lawrence poem Song of a Man Who Has Come Through!thrilling. Actually I was told this is the first time ever a lecture was given in this new university since its establishment 15 years ago.The relationship of D.H.Lawrnce with Nottingham should be addressed here as it is the China campus of the home uni.of which Lawrence is a celebrated alumnus and a great son of Nottinghamshire. Thanks to the invitation from UNNC I had accomplished this groung-breaking mission as a self appointed Lawrence scholar as a translator in and from China.And I always feel as if I returned to Nottingham Uni. where I stayed for a year in 2001 as a visiting scholar ot its D.H.Lawrence centre,for the campus was designed very much after the home uni. in style and environ, except that most of the delicious food provided in the students' dining halls are typically local,which I enjoyed very much. Fondest memories of both the city and the uni.,sure to go back there again. |
