有時簡單地從漢語字面意思來看，看不出是用基數(shù)詞還是序數(shù)詞,，此時不要想當(dāng)然地亂用,。

今天是我爺爺?shù)?0大壽。

誤：Today is my grandfather’s sixty birthday.

正：Today is my grandfather’s sixtieth birthday.

漢語說“三十歲生日”“六十大壽”等,，其實指的是過第30個生日,，過第60個生日等，所以要用序數(shù)詞而不用基數(shù)詞,。

一般直接用基數(shù)詞表示

Her daughter is eighteen. 

她的女兒18歲,。

用“基數(shù)詞 + years old”表示，有時可將years old 換成years of age,。

Her daughter is eighteen years old. / Her daughter is eighteen years of age. 

她的女兒18歲,。

用“基數(shù)詞-year-old”表示，此結(jié)構(gòu)常做(前置)定語,。

Her 18-year-old daughter is now in the university. 他18歲的女兒現(xiàn)在上大學(xué),。

 用“at the age of +基數(shù)詞”表示“在“在……年齡”。

Her daughter got married at the age of eighteen. 她的女兒18歲就結(jié)了婚,。

用“of + 基數(shù)詞”表示,，此結(jié)構(gòu)常做后置定語。

Her daughter is now a pretty girl of 18. 

她女兒現(xiàn)在一個18歲的美少女了,。

用“aged +基數(shù)詞”表示,，此結(jié)構(gòu)常做后置定語。

Lying on the floor was a boy aged about seventeen. 

躺在地板上的是一個約莫十七歲的男孩,。

 用“be in one’s +幾十的復(fù)數(shù)形式”表示某人大概的年齡,。

He went to the United States in his fifties. 

他五十多歲時去了美國。
