兩把化繁為簡的利劍---現(xiàn)在分詞和過去分詞 現(xiàn)分形式三四種,,一般完成與被動,; 過分形式僅一種,既表被動又完工,; 雖為非謂有動性,,表定狀賓與賓補。 說明:完工:即指完成,,“既表被動又完工”:指過去分詞既表被動又表完成,。過去建筑工人干完一個建筑工地的活就叫“完工”了。農(nóng)民干完一天的活叫“收工”了,。在此借喻“動作已經(jīng)完成”且也有為諧音之便利,。“雖為非謂有動性”:指雖然現(xiàn)在分詞和過去分詞本身是非謂語動詞,,但他們卻都有動詞的某些特征,。動性:指具有動詞的特性,即也可以像動詞那樣帶自己的賓語和狀語,。 今天,,將與大家繼續(xù)討論現(xiàn)在分詞和過去分詞在句中作狀語的用法,以及簡化復(fù)合句中的狀語從句的問題,。這次所簡化的狀語從句與上一講的略有不同,,至于怎么不同,請您繼續(xù)往下瞧: ★請先弄明白下列句子的意思,,然后將復(fù)合句中的從句用現(xiàn)在分詞或過去分詞簡化掉,。 1.Because he had learned English before, he had no difficulty living in London. 2.After we had been shown the lab, we were taken to see the library. 3.After she had been told that there was no danger, she returned to bed. 4.As she was being asked to answer the question, she felt a little nervous. 5.Because they were encouraged by the class adviser, they studied harder. 句1用分詞簡化后是這樣的:Having learned English before, he had no difficulty living in London. (由于以前學(xué)過英語,他在倫敦生活并不困難。) Because he had learned English before是原因狀語從句,,為什么用having learned (現(xiàn)在分詞完成式,,代表式是having done )來簡化?而不是用現(xiàn)在分詞一般式(代表式是:doing )來簡化,?原因是learned English這個動作很顯然發(fā)生在“在倫敦居住沒有困難”之前的動作,。當(dāng)從句謂語動詞所表示的動作明顯先于主句的謂語動詞所表示的動作之前發(fā)生(“主從句主語指同一人或物”這一條件不變)時,用“現(xiàn)在分詞完成式:即:having done的形式”來簡化該從句,。又如: Having finished my assignment, I began to read a novel. (做完作業(yè)后,,我就開始看小說。),。比較一下用現(xiàn)在分詞一般時(doing/being形式)簡化的句子:While studying abroad, I picked up driving. (在國外學(xué)習(xí)時,,我順便學(xué)會了開車。) 此句中,, studying 與picked up 同時發(fā)生,。故從句改成分詞簡化時用現(xiàn)在分詞一般式studying。高中階段現(xiàn)在分詞作為非謂語動詞僅須掌握五種形式,。兩個主動態(tài),,三個被動態(tài)。他們是:現(xiàn)在分詞一般式(代表式:doing),,上講講解過,,現(xiàn)在分詞完成式(代表式:having done);三個被動態(tài)是:現(xiàn)在分詞一般式被動語態(tài)(代表式:being done), 現(xiàn)在分詞完成式被動語態(tài)(代表式:having been done)和過去分詞一般式(即:done 的形式) 句2 用分詞簡化后是這樣的:Shown the lab, we were taken to see the library. (在被告知沒有危險后,她回去睡覺了,。 After he had been told that… 是時間狀語從句,。由于謂語動詞told與主語he是被動的主謂關(guān)系,且又先與主句謂語動詞returned to bed 發(fā)生,,故用現(xiàn)在分詞完成式被動語態(tài)簡化從句,。這樣,既表達(dá)清楚了兩個動作發(fā)生的先后關(guān)系,,又顯示了被動關(guān)系和原因,。符合原從句所要表達(dá)的含義,。記住: ? “現(xiàn)在分詞完成式被動語態(tài)(即having been done 的形式)”相當(dāng)于“過去完成時被動語態(tài)”(即had been done的形式)所表達(dá)的含義。? Having been done 與 done做狀語時的不同點在于:前者比后者更強調(diào)動作先發(fā)生,。相同點是:都可表示被動,。又如:Completely examined by the surgeon , he went back to work right now.(外科醫(yī)生給他徹底檢查后,他即刻回去工作了,。) 從此句中right now可看出,,此句更強調(diào)的是“被醫(yī)生檢查”,而非 examined 與went back 的先后發(fā)生時間,。Having been told the bad news, sherry couldn’t help crying. (被告知這個壞消息后,, 雪瑞不禁哭了。) 很顯然,,這句中用having been told 更強調(diào)“被告知”發(fā)生在“哭”之前,。“被告知”是因,,而“哭”是果,。 句4用分詞簡化后是這樣的: Being askedto answer the question, she felt a little nervous. (由于正在接受詢問,她感到有點緊張,。)As she was being asked to answer the question是原因狀語從句,。由于ask與從句主語she或者說與主句主語she(兩個主語是一回事) 是被動的主謂關(guān)系,且強調(diào)she 正在被詢問,,故可將從句的“過去進(jìn)行時被動態(tài)”,簡化為“現(xiàn)在分詞一般式被動語態(tài)(即:being done的形式)”,。可見being done的形式能用來表達(dá)“某個動作正在被做”,,這里相當(dāng)于“過去進(jìn)行時被動態(tài)”所表達(dá)的含義。 句5用分詞簡化后是這樣的: Encouraged by the class adviser, they studied harder. (受到領(lǐng)導(dǎo)的批評后,,王戒掉了香煙。),;Given more time, we will finish the task in time. (如果給我們更多的時間,, 我們就能及時完成這個任務(wù)。)(強調(diào)我們被給予……) 幾點注意:現(xiàn)在分詞與過去分詞的否定形式: Not/never+現(xiàn)在分詞/過去分詞(無須加do does did 等助動詞) 如:1.Not knowing what to say, she felt embarrassed.由于不知道怎樣說,,她感到很尷尬,。 2.Not having done it right, I did it again.因為沒做對, 我又做了一遍,。 3.Not being seen by others, the thief ran away. 沒人看見,,那小偷跑了。 4.Not allowed to entered the office, he had to wait outside.不允許進(jìn)入辦公室,,他只好在外面等著,。 5.Never invited to his party, she got angry with him. 從未被邀請參加他的聚會,她對他很生氣,。 6.現(xiàn)在分詞表原因,,多置于句首?,F(xiàn)在分詞表原因相當(dāng)于as, since 和because引導(dǎo)的原因狀語從句。如:Not knowing her phone number, I couldn’t call her. (相當(dāng)于:Because I didn’t know…) 7.現(xiàn)在分詞作狀語表示原因和時間,,有時很難區(qū)分,。一般來說,表示心里認(rèn)識的現(xiàn)在分詞,,如:know , learn, think, fear, forget, remember等,,多表原因。以being,,having been,或not + v-ing 形式出現(xiàn)的現(xiàn)在分詞多數(shù)也是表示原因,。如:Fearing that the police would recognize him, he never went out in daylight.
