BLOW Published: November 27, 2013 發(fā)表于：2013年11月27日 I realized that I, like so many, get so caught up in the torrent of dinners and parties and sales and gifts this time of year that I sometimes forget how truly ephemeral and precious life is, that life itself is the gift. 我驀然驚覺，一年中的這個時候,，自己與大家一樣,，穿梭在宴席聚會之間，忙碌于折扣禮物之中,，卻時常忘了生命是多么短暫可貴,，忘記生命本身就是最好的禮物。 And I forget how truly blessed I have been by whatever gods there may be. It doesn’t mean that there haven’t been troubles and trials. There have. But I have had it in me to overcome. And for the mere fact of having enough and to all the people in my life who have informed my character and given me courage, I need to give a measure of thanks. So, here goes: 我也忘了,，自己是何其幸運(yùn),，得到上天的佑護(hù)，無論是哪一位神祇,。這不并意味著,，我就沒有煩惱，沒有考驗(yàn),。我有,，但我有能力克服。就算只是為了我衣食無憂,，對我生命中那些影響了我的性格,、給予我勇氣的人，我都得道一聲感謝,。所以： I’m thankful for the basic things, like food and shelter and warmth when it is cold and medicine when I am sick. I grew up staring poverty squarely in the face, but I fear that far too many have no familiarity — or even empathy — with what it means to be poor in this country, or in any country. 我感謝最基本的東西,，有飯可食，有屋可棲,，寒冷時有溫暖,，生病時有藥物。在我成長的路上,，貧窮如影隨形,，但恐怕太多的人根本不知在這個國家或其它國家，貧窮是什么滋味,，甚至不屑一顧,。 I am thankful for a loving mother who hasn’t always gotten things right, but who taught me how to grow in grace and learn from getting things wrong. She taught me what it means to live selflessly and without pride, and to find joy in giving joy. 我感謝我善良的母親，雖然她不總是對的，但她教會了我如何優(yōu)雅地成長,，從錯誤中吸取教訓(xùn),。她引領(lǐng)我懂得，什么是活得謙卑無私,，什么是贈人玫瑰,，手有余香。 I’m thankful for the teachers who saw me when I felt invisible, who reached through my sorrow and my sadness and, in that darkness, lit a fire in me. These are teachers who to this day encourage me like family more than faculty. 我感謝我的老師,，在我覺得無比渺小時,，他們看見了我，在我悲傷難過時,，他們伸出了手,，于黑暗中在我心底燃起一簇火。直至今日,，這些老師都鼓舞著我,，他們對我來說，不止是師長,，更是家人,。 I’m thankful for great friends and the love of family, the deepest bonds of earthly connection, who provide the greatest defense when the storms of life rage and the walls of the self are buffeted. 我感謝我的好友和我家人的愛，他們是這塵世間我最深的牽絆,，當(dāng)人生面臨暴風(fēng)驟雨,、自我之壁遭到千錘百煉時，是他們筑起了最堅強(qiáng)的堡壘,。 I’m thankful for the spirit and resilience and fortitude of this country’s unbreakable slaves of the not-too-distant past, whose blood courses through my veins, whose dreams I live, whose lives I honor. 我感謝不遠(yuǎn)的過去,，這個國家堅不可摧的奴隸，感謝他們的精神,、堅韌與勇敢,。我的骨子里流著他們的血液，我踐行著他們的夢想,，我崇敬著他們的人生,。 Thank you all. 謝謝你們。 |
