新聞：（2006年7月25日 Search Engine Watch - Real-Time Traffic From Google Maps Mobile）Google Maps has rolled out a new mobile version offering real-time traffic information in 30 US cities. The service also offers directions designed for those who are walking, in addition to driving.[1]

評析：

現(xiàn)階段Google所提供的服務(wù)中,，有三類是與行動通訊產(chǎn)品（即手機）相關(guān)的服務(wù)，分別為”Maps for mobile”,、”Mobile”與”SMS”,，如圖一所示。其中Mobile為提供手機使用者查詢”網(wǎng)頁（web）”與”圖片（images）”,，SMS為以簡訊（short message）回復為主的查詢方式,，而Maps for mobile（以下稱為Google Maps Mobile）即為Google Maps在手機上的應(yīng)用。

Google Maps Mobile（http://www.google.com/gmm）雖然類似Google Maps功能,，但是其特殊的”交通路況查詢功能”已經(jīng)為行動通訊運用走出一條嶄新路,，值得我們進一步討論與往后追蹤。

根據(jù)Google Maps Mobile網(wǎng)頁的說明,，其功能匯整如下[2]：

lDetailed directions: Whether you plan to walk or drive, your route is displayed on the map itself, together with step-by-step directions.（指引方向）

lIntegrated search results: Local business locations and contact information appear all in one place, integrated on your map.（整合檢索結(jié)果與商店服務(wù)）

lEasily movable maps: Interactive, draggable maps let you zoom in or out, and move in all directions so you can orient yourself visually.（可簡易使用之地圖瀏覽功能）

lSatellite imagery: Get a bird‘s eye view of your desired location.（具衛(wèi)星照片）

lReal-time traffic: See where the congestion is, and estimate delays in over 30 major US metropolitan areas.（實時路況展示）

上述服務(wù)描述中,，前四點均為Google Maps網(wǎng)絡(luò)版之基本功能，不同點僅在于該服務(wù)被移植到手機行動載具上,，并且針對手機的操作界面（以數(shù)字鍵鍵盤為主的操作方式）進行使用者界面（User Interface, UI）的新設(shè)計,。但是第五項”Real-time traffic”（實時路況展示）卻是Google Maps Mobile特有的功能（亦即Google Maps無此功能），亦即方便手機使用者查詢美國三十個主要都市的實時路況,，并能依此估算塞車延誤時間,。Google Maps Mobile走出了以計算機為使用核心之新服務(wù)，并且根據(jù)手機平臺設(shè)計了以手機使用者為主的新功能,，顯示Google目標不僅是要成為計算機網(wǎng)絡(luò)平臺的電子商務(wù)龍頭,，手機平臺與服務(wù)亦是其主要營運主軸。

圖二為Google Maps Mobile之Java展示畫面,，此功能乃是Google提供網(wǎng)絡(luò)使用者一個操作之模擬界面,，方便讓使用者可以在計算機上先”練習”一下相關(guān)手機使用功能。由圖二可以發(fā)現(xiàn),，而功能包括”Find Business”,、”Find Location”、 ”Directions”,、”Satellite View”,、”Clear Map”,、”Zoom”、”Help”,、”Show Traffic”與”Quit”等,。其中除”Show Traffic”（顯示路況）之外都是我們熟悉的Google Maps功能。

圖三為我們測試Google總部之實時路況（地址為：1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View CA）,，由圖可見”綠色（路況佳）”,、”黃色（小塞車）”與”紅色（塞車）”等三種顏色路況標示。此外,，其它地圖相關(guān)服務(wù),，包括找商店、顯示方向或是放大與縮小等亦可再此界面上進一步操作,。

由Google僅在Google Maps Mobile平臺推出實時路況查詢,，我們得到一個啟示，亦即使用習慣的差異必會導致平臺的差異,，而對應(yīng)的服務(wù)也會有差異,。換言之，以使用者而言,，實際上需要在計算機上查詢路況的機率是遠小于在手機上使用的,，因為查詢路況之需求乃是屬于行動中個人的。因此雖然同樣是地圖服務(wù),，也只有在行動載具上（包括收機與GPS載具）,，實時路況之功能需求量才大。

Google Maps雖然是一個大平臺,，但是Google根據(jù)此平臺繼續(xù)切割更多小應(yīng)用,，并放到適當?shù)妮d具上值得我們學習，此外,，我們也需要進一步觀察其實際被接受狀況,。(1122字)
